During our past road trip, we took a slight detour to visit McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. That slight detour resulted in an extra couple of hours tacked onto our drive. It as well worth it. The natural beauty, known as Burney Falls, was gorgeous and I just couldn’t seem to get enough of it. Can you spot me in the photo below just taking it all in?
Burney Falls – Nature Photography
Despite living in California most of my life, I had never heard of Burney Falls. My husband happened to come across it while doing some travel research for our trip. President Theodore Roosevelt was quoted to have called these the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. Apparently, the river used to go out another mile or so but erosion pushed the falls back. I can’t imagine how beautiful it must have been then.
I loved that there weren’t any crowds and it was only a 0.3 mile ‘hike’ to the base. One day we’ll have to make arrangements to camp out here. What a local treasure!
This is simply BEAUTIFUL!!!
You are very lucky to have that close by, what a beauty!!
That’s gorgeous and HUGE! I didn’t spot you right away because you look so small in the picture!
This pic of Burney Falls is beautiful. I’d love to see it in person.
I have never heard of it, but such a gorgeous view! I love waterfalls. 🙂
Looks like a beautiful place to visit! I’ll definitely have to check it out one day!
That is gorgeous. We’re still exploring our community and neighborhood here in North Texas, but we’ve found a few neat places that we are starting to bring guests to whenever they visit.
Looks like a spectacular place to visit and beautiful pic!
Oh my goodness, that is gorgeous. I wonder if it is close to where we will be in California this summer.
I would love to see waterfalls! That is so pretty!! WE have the beach…
That is gorgeous. I need to start taking my daughter more places now that she is getting a little older.
I suspect there are more things like this on the eastern side of the state in the mountainous region. LOVE that it was such a short hike to that beauty!
That is abosultely stunning! I am a huge nature lover, so a view like this is breathtaking! I would totally vacation near there so I could see that view in real life!!
Wow, that is breathtaking! I never saw something this stunning in person.
This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen!
That waterfall is amazing! I love hikes that lead to a waterfalls… I wonder if there is a waterfall in every state? If so, I’d love to visit at least one waterfall in every state. 🙂
Oh wow, that is absolutely stunning. Great photo, too.
