Do you remember the last time you changed your headlights? If not, then it’s probably a good time to do just that. Headlight bulbs can dull over time, affecting your visibility at night and possible slowing reaction time to any unexpected road obstructions. That is not okay.

The other day I was driving some friends when, suddenly, someone exclaimed, “Oh dear! Slow down!” I had no idea what was happening until I saw… a deer. It turns out that she actually said, “Oh! Deer!” Hehe, the English language is so crazy. Fortunately, everything was all good and the young buck trotted along until crossing to safety on the other side of the road. This all happened just before dusk (which explains why I didn’t see him at first). If it was dark, though, I would hope my headlights would be bright enough to spot him or any of his forest friends. Otherwise, it could have ended very badly for one or all of us.

Replacing your headlights does not have to be intimidating, though. SYLVANIA created a very clear and easy to follow video for how to replace headlight bulbs. A few different methods are shown since the layout in some cars might vary. In the video, the new SYLVANIA SilverStar® ULTRA headlights are featured. These provide brighter visibility and whiter light than standard bulbs, allowing drivers to see street signs and any objects on the road better without blinding oncoming traffic.

See? That’s not so bad is it. Honestly, I never realized that headlights dimmed so much and that changing them was so simple. I may try doing this on my mom’s car (the one she wants to give my daughter later) soon. Make sure you check your local auto store for the correct part number for your car.

Keeping your headlight bulbs in tip-top shape is so important, especially with road trip time coming up. I’ll be sharing more about how your safety and that of your loved ones are involved over the next couple of months as part of SYLVANIA’s #TravelSafe campaign. The statistics are extremely sobering. So don’t delay and go replace those headlights!
