Tuft and Needle Mattress Review – Affordable Quality

Tuft and Needle Mattress Review – Best Mattress for the Lowest Price #shopping

The other day, I sat on my daughter bed and said, “Frans, I think it’s time for us to get Munchkin a new mattress.” We bought our daughter’s mattress over eight years ago from Ikea. It was a lower-end spring mattress as that was all we could afford at the time. After almost a decade of use, the mattress was wearing down and the individual springs were starting to protrude. Whether we liked it or not, it was time to get a new one. As a total and complete surprise, I was asked to review a Tuft and Needle mattress to the very next day. What are the odds of that timing?! Obviously I said “yes”.

Tuft & Needle – Cost and Quality

I really respect the idea that Tuft & Needle is founded upon. According to their site, the company “was founded to offer a high-quality mattress at a fraction of the cost.” Several times Frans has pointed out how sad it is that some mattress manufacturers can charge so much for some springs and padding. That’s why I was curious as to just how good of a mattress one could get when a 5″ twin only costs $200 and a 10″ California King is only $600. Plus, all mattresses include free shipping, a 7-year warranty, and a full 30-night return guarantee.

To be honest, this was the first time I had heard of Tuft & Needle. So I did what I always do when I want to gauge the quality of something – I went to check Amazon.com. Apparently, the Tuft & Needle mattress listed on there is maintaining a full five-star rating with 460 reviews. That was definitely a good sign. The only way to really know how good the mattress quality is is by trying it out. Since Munchkin’s bed can expand to a full/double size and ideally this mattress would last another several years, we opted to get a larger mattress.

Tuft and Needle Mattress Review

We ordered the 10″ FULL mattress and a rectangular package arrived just a couple of days later. Set up was easy enough as we only has to take it out and cut the plastic. As soon as Frans snipped off that last bit, the mattress pretty much unrolled itself and puffed up. I was about to take a video but the opening was over before I could even hit the “record” button.

The mattress came in perfect condition. The cover was cushioned nicely and super soft, almost like a pillow-top. Even though the mattress already looked how we thought it should, the instructions said it would take a good 2-3 hours to regain it’s full thickness and we opted to leave it alone before jumping on.

As soon as that was done, we threw on some sheets and Frans and Munchkin went for it.

Both Frans and I were impressed with the quality of the mattress and how sturdy it felt. Actually we were both kind of jealous as the mattress felt so good and kind of wanted for ourselves (although we just bought a new one a few months ago). Some might have issues with how firm the mattress is but it does break in nicely without loosing any support.

Munchkin had no problem sleeping on this. The first night, she was out completely. Upon finding her in the morning, I did have my doubts about the size we ordered though.

As she stretched and laid in bed a bit longer, my daughter said, “This bed is so comfortable. It makes me not want to get out. But, maybe that’s not a good thing.” Yes, our little girl loves her new mattress. No more does she wake up with slight soreness and it doesn’t make her sweat at night like the last one did. I guess the only downside is that it’s a bit harder to make her get OUT of bed now. I’ve also had a few nice naps on it when she’s not at home 😉

We are really happy with the Tuft & Needle mattress.I love the fact that we don’t have to flip it, we didn’t have to do the whole mattress store trial and error, and that it’s just such a high quality mattress. And, with such reasonable prices, I can’t help but tell others about it. On top of all that, the company even works to help provide mattresses to children in need. How can you not like such a company? Now we’ll just have to see how this stands the test of time. At least we have seven years of warranty to help with that!

What has your experience been with buying new mattresses?

Thanks! We coveted the frame for a long time and then a co-worker was selling the one they had since they were moving. We got a good deal and it’s nice and sturdy.

Whenever I replace my mattress, I realize that my back pain and aches were happening because I was sleeping on a worn out mattress. The new ones make a big difference!

That mattress looks really awesome! Our entire household needs new mattresses. Like you, we couldn’t afford quality mattresses. I’d love to get this for my kids. (I’d love it too.)

We’ve usually bought ours at a local store, but we just bought two for our guest room online last year and our guests say they are really nice. I need to look into this brand though because our daughter has already informed us that she’s out of the dorm next year and into an apartment which means she’ll have to get a mattress for that bed!

This looks like a great mattress. I like the storage area. You got a big mattress just in case she decides she wants to stretch out, lol.

We’re actually looking for a new mattress for my daughter but since she’ll be going off to college next year, we’re probably going to hold off for now. But, this bed does look super comfy.
