Starting Each Day Off Better with the Rise&Smile App #Humankindness

Have you ever had those mornings that get off to a bad start and, no matter how hard you try to change it, things just seem to get worse as the day goes on? Yeah, I hate it when that happens too. On the flip side, a good morning can make all the difference. You feel better and are nicer to people you meet. They, in turn, feel better and are nicer to the people they meet. That’s a chain of events I’d like to see more often.

To help you wake up in a good mood every day, there’s a new make-people-smile app out called Rise&Smile. Using the Rise&Smile app from Dignity Health, you can set your alarm and wake up to positive messages from well-wishers around the globe. You can also make your own video of kindness to share. How can you not get up with a smile with daily pep talks each morning?!

It’s not easy coming up with a 9-second video to bring smiles to people around the world. Something that always makes me smile in the morning is a greeting from our pup, Speckles. It took a lot of peanut butter to coerce her into this video but she didn’t mind all that much 🙂 You can see my / her ‘wake up’ video here:

The Rise&Smile App is FREE for both iOS and Android devices. The alarm is easy to set and edit the days and timesWhen it’s time for your alarm to go off, the app will cycle through five videos until you snooze or turn it off. The videos started off as being different each time but the app began repeating certain ones (snorting dog and not show others (i.e. mine). My husband can NOT get the video of the little girl saying ‘good morning’ over and over out of his head. You can ‘like’ your favorites but I haven’t noticed that making a difference yet.

While making a video, the app did crash a couple of times but it finally worked out okay. To record your message, you only need to tap and hold the screen. Videos are a max of ten seconds. After the video is processed, it will play back and you can choose to submit it. After it’s approved, your message of kindness will be encouraging smiles everywhere!

Plenty of sleep makes me rise & smile. Otherwise, my day seemingly never goes right!

I don’t have many mornings where I can’t overcome the morning blahs, but this is a neat app.

Love the idea of this app. I am going to try it during our summer trip. It sounds way more interesting than waking up to a blaring alarm clock.

Waking up is always so difficult for me, so an app like this could be a lot of fun. Your puppy is the absolute cutest!
