[DS] Style Lab: Fashion Design

by TerriAnn

Style Lab Fashion Design for the Nintendo DS is a different genre of video game. It translates into real life since you can create your own designs and then order them. Through a partnership with Zazzle, your child can actually wear their self-designed shirts, hats, and bags.

There is more to the game though. A diary is kept with different characters that you meet. They will tell you the style and ‘vibe’ they are looking for and your child can design apparel or accessories to meet those. Here are the pros and cons of the game from my 10-year-old daughter’s point of view:

Pros: What I do like about it is that you can make your own character. You can even have pink or blue hair, mine has blue hair.
First make your own character and then you can go into your diary to see your fake friends and do events.

Cons: I don’t like it because these people very bossy. They are supposed to be your fake friends but they are very bossy. You try making really cool things and they say, “Something’s missing. I don’t like that. Try something else”. (Said in a snotty voice.) I don’t like that.

So there are mixed thoughts regarding this game. To really get the full experience of Style Lab Fashion Design, you will have to spend extra to purchase the items your child (or you) design. Here are a few my daughter came up with:

Due to time constraints on posting this review we have not yet had a chance to personally try out this particular feature but plan to soon. With the cost of this game being very reasonable, though, it could be a wonderful stepping stone to releasing some great creative juices.

Disclosure: While Ubisoft provided me with this game to review, the opinions I’ve expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest viewpoint. UbisoftClever Girls Collective and I promote Blog With Integrity.
