I Hate Shopping, Mostly

Hot Pink Straps on clear plastic wedge shoesI know, I know. I must be from some weird hole-in-the-wall to make the statement that I don’t like shopping. I would rather be scrubbing the tub with a toothbrush than go on a shopping spree. When I was younger, my mom knew my style and would just bring stuff home for me to see if I liked it. Now I’m the mom and have to do the shopping for everyone in my house regardless if I want to or not. That’s not to say that I find all forms for shopping exhausting. There is one article of clothing that I am always happy to look for – shoes!

Something about shoes makes them so interesting. Wedges, espadrilles, heels, ballet flats, women’s sandals, boots, clogs – there are so many styles to choose from. That doesn’t even include the variety created from different fabrics, embellishments, straps, etc. I personally love strappy shoes!

After moving back and forth overseas, my collection took a hard hit. I only have about 16 pairs now but I’m still working on it. Being lazy and only wanting comfort, a good portion of that collection is comprised of sneakers and flip flops right now. Wearing them too often makes me feel frumpy so I’m on the lookout for some great deals and am anxiously awaiting the new shoe store that will be opening up in my city in a couple of months.

Even with some serious spend-age, I don’t think I’ll ever get to a sizable collection like Christina but a girl can dream, right?

I guess I know what I’ll be dreaming about tonight 🙂

I know what you mean about feeling frumpy for wanting to be comfortable! For this reason I recently I took a trip to my local “brown shoe store” out of boredom and got quite the surprise. Go check out Earthies and Dansko heels if your in the mood for comfortable fashion!

Good idea! I also have to make myself realize that if I don’t spend more than $20 on shoes (so hard for me) they’ll probably hurt 😛

LOL Sometimes the truth hurts (your wallet). Just starting to figure that out myself!

I know, I know. Whenever I complain about my feet hurting my husband says, “That’s because you buy cheap shoes.” It hurts more that my husband has to point that out 😛

I love shoe shopping as well! I don’t think anything is quite as satisfactory as buying a new pair of shoes. 🙂 That said, Christina’s closet is making me crazy. Those shoes need to be reorganized. I understand someone put them in designer order by style and THEN color but the non-color order is really driving me crazy… I’ll just have to pretend that picture does not exist. (This is why I cannot have a lot of shoes… I’d spend all my time putting them in order!)

Whoa – serious OCD! Shoes definitely fill a spot nothing else can. Not all can understand that though. My husband read this and said, “What?! 16 pairs of shoes?! That’s a lot!” while I’m thinking ONLY 16 😛

The OCD can be pretty serious; random things set it off, usually having to do with colors. I’m with you there. My shoe collection is hovering around 45 pairs including boots and I’m feeling like I might have enough (okay not really). The thing is… I *wear* my shoes so it’s not like I have pairs that never see the light of day… so I feel slightly justified. 🙂

Ooh, so jealous! I actually only wear about 5-6 pairs as the other hurt my feet. I just can’t bring myself to throw them out, though, because then my sad little shoe selection will be even more pitiful.
